Boston

Darin and I spent two whole days in Boston. The first day we got into town around 8 in the morning, found our hotel and learned that we were going to be able to check in until 3 in the afternoon... What the heck were we going to do. So we got a map and went to eat some breakfast down the street and plan out our day. On our map we found out that there was this 2.5 mile historical trail through Boston and decided we were gonna do that and then head to the New England National Aquarium. The trail had 17 different stops and we cut in at the 14th because it went right past our hotel. We went over to the USS Constitution and the USS ...don’t remember the name. They had a little museum that we got to walk through that Darin felt was way too interactive for him. They had this machine that you could pretend like you were loading a cannon and shooting it at another boat. They also had an area upstairs for kids (of course we went up there) and you got to see what life as a sailor on boat would be like. We took a brief nap in the hammocks they had hanging.

After going aboard one of the ships it started really coming down and knew it wouldn’t be the best idea to walk back to the hotel so we caught the ferry that conveniently took us strait to the entrance of the Aquarium. The line was so long and we still had 2 hours to kill before we could get into our hotel. There was a 3D IMAX movie theater next to the aquarium and we went to go see a movie call Hubble 3D. It was a movie about the hubble telescope and all the missions up to it to restore it. The telescope took some amazing shots of everything that is beyond our universe and more.

After the movie we checked into our hotel and both Darin and I passed out until about 6:30 pm. We showered and went to get some dinner around the corner at a sports bar. After dinner we went back to the Hotel and watched the rest of the ESPY’s. They were really good, Seth Meyers was hilarious! And Kenny Chesney got to present the award for Best Team (or something along those lines). Drew Brees and the New Orleans Saints won. That was cool! I watched a documentary thing on Drew Brees once. Him and his wife have given so much to the city of New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina.

Day 2

Day 2 in Boston consisted of Darin and I sleeping until 1:30 in the afternoon. Oops! We went to the big shopping mall downtown and of all placed went to CPK for lunch. We needed a little bit of a fix. Then it was off to the game, not without heading back to the hotel because I forgot to bring the tickets with me. We got into Fenway Park just when they opened the gates and got to see the Texas Rangers do batting practice. I even got a picture of Vladdy hitting! The Rangers kicked some butt! They scored 6 runs in the first inning and scored another in the third. The starting pitcher for Boston was out 40 minutes into the game. Our seats were almost the furthest seats in the stadium from home plate but it was cool, we had a very wide perspective. I got my baseball bat, a picture at the seat where Tim Williams hit a home run 502 feet at Fenway Park. Darin found 5 bucks on the floor while we were leaving and got his shot glass and a baseball with 42 on it for Jackie Robinson.

  1. Hi Shannon and Darin!

You two go!!. Sounds like you are having a great time, especially without any parent telling you what to do. Your ole Grandma couldn't believe your were left in Boston by yourselves but your Dad sort of laughed at me. It is hard to realize you are all grown up.
    Have fun, love you both,

    Grandma Cheeseman
